ARG Browser Extension

A complete engineering playbook for Manifest V3 browser extensions on Chrome, Firefox and Safari. Extensions built with it stay easy to change after hundreds of features, including extensions that run AI models entirely on the device.

What it does

  • Business rules live in their own layers, and browser APIs (tabs, storage, scripting, messaging, network events) stay behind small adapters. Supporting a new browser means writing one thin adapter class, not rewriting the extension.
  • Every layer rule is an architecture test that runs in CI. A shortcut such as a UI component calling a browser API directly fails the build before it reaches the main branch.
  • Reusable helpers live in one dependency-free library folder, so logic is never copied between files. Configuration, timeouts and limits live in one config module instead of being scattered across the code.
  • Work follows the ARG workflow: one branch per feature or fix, a reviewed pull request with a Conventional Commit title, CI before merge, and automatic versioned releases with generated changelogs.
